The Burton's {Family Session}

This is my 2nd year with the Burton Family. When I first met them, Nicholas was just a baby learning to walk.  Dylan was the doting big brother who just loved to run.  This year. both boys were running all over the place and jumping off little bridges and rocks and whatever else they could find.  No fear from these boys at all.  Nicholas was determined to do everything his big brother did .. except smile :) The only way we could get him to smile was to have him say his colors.  Yes COLORS made him smile - just melts your heart!

 Dylan, is just as sweet as I remember and smart as a whip.  At just 4, he can already add! And I'm not talking 1+2, its more like 5+5+5 .. its amazing!

Kelly and Rick, you are amazing parents, and I love when we get together!

Chantal & Aubrey {Mommy and Me}

I met Chantal and Aubrey just about a year ago.  Chantal is the cousin of one of my friends, and had reached out to me to do Christmas photos.  Aubrey, her daughter, is quite the character, and smart as a whip. For this shoot, Chantal wanted to get a few shots of her and Aubrey as well as just Aubrey alone.  We met at BensonsPark in Hudson NH and walked around looking for those one of kind places, and Benson's does not disappoint when it comes to hidden gems.

I think my favorite part of the session was watching Aubrey just take over and pose how she wanted to pose and smile how she wanted to smile.

Chantal and Aubrey have a beautiful connection and I'm happy to have delivered these beautiful photos to them.

Londonderry, NH Family Session {The Bowser's}

I met Jenn and Jay at a wedding I was shooting.  I was seated at their table, and was entertained by Jay's comical sense of humor for much of the reception.  Jenn's identical twin sister was at the table with us, and let me tell you, they are identical in every way.  They laugh the same, their mannerisms are the same and they are both an absolute ray of sunshine.  Jenn and I conversed over photography as she is just starting out in the business, being a mom of a little girl and how her sister was ready to have her baby "any day now".  I instantly took a liking to her.

A few weeks after the wedding, I received a message from Jenn asking me for family photos, but this was to be a special photo session as Jenn had just found out she was pregnant and wanted to announce it via photos including their adorable daughter, Autumn, who is just over a year.

The day came and it was unseasonably warm.  I was kind of bummed about that because I know Jenn really wanted warm clothing and that fall feel.  We can't predict the weather though and as long as it wasn't raining, the show must go on.

The original location we chose was closed for a private location.  I had to readjust and look for a back up location.  I was near Mack's Apples so that is where we met.  Mack's is quite popular amongst the photographers in the area, and today was no exception.

Jenn and Jay showed up with little Autumn and I took one look at Jay and knew something was wrong.  Jenn got out of the car and told me that Jay was really sick with a stomach bug.  Oh no!  My first thought was to pick another day - and I said this to Jay.  He said "No way, we drove 45 minutes, lets get this done"  So get it done we did.

Autumn took a few minutes to warm up to the idea of someone else taking her picture other than her mom, but once she did, she was your typical adventurous 1 year old that has just learned to walk and wants to explore everything she can get her hands on.  And poor Jay, he was such a trooper but you could totally tell all he wanted was to go home and crawl back into bed - although you would never be able to tell by the  photographs.  Way to go Jay!

There were two moments from the session that stand out.  One was when I asked Autumn about the baby in her mommy's belly.  She lit up with a big smile and went right over to Mommy's belly.  She looked at it and picked her shirt right up and looked from the belly to me and back.  She is so proud to be a big sister (as you can see in the pictures)

The other moment was when we scooted off to one of the orchards and I sat Autumn down in a chair amongst the apples. She has had apples before but always cut and peeled.  Today she was getting her very own apple, and what a joy that was to watch.  Jenn thought she would never be able to get through the skin and eat the apple, but Autumn was one determined little lady and accomplished what she set out to do.  Her face was just priceless when she finally made it through the skin.

Jenn and Jay, I am so happy we had such a great time together and that I was able to capture a beautiful family of 3 .. before it turns into a family of 4.  Congratulations again to you both.  Much love!

Londonderry, NH Family Session {The Booth's}

When you think Fall or even Christmas for that matter, you think warm sweaters, hats, mittens and cold weather, right?  Well not for this session.  We had almost 80 degrees in late afternoon.

This was nothing like our Christmas session last year.  Monica and Elgin were the first appointment and it was cold out.  Austin was not himself, and just didn't want to get out of Mommy's arms.  We walked around the trees,  sang some songs and read a book.  In the end, we got a few pictures that included Austin's little friend Pooh Bear and off they went.  I got a message from Monica later that day that said Austin went home and had a high grade fever and was snuggling with her on the couch.  Now we know why he wasn't himself.

This year was a completely different story.   The day was unseasonably warm, and definitely not very Christmas like, but the pictures we got are fantastic.   Austin showed up with Pooh Bear again, and at first did NOT want to sit down for pictures.  So I asked him if it was OK to take some pictures of Pooh?  Austin thought about it for a nano second and then went to set Pooh up for his picture.  Once I took the shot, Austin came over and said "I see?" and looked at the back of the camera for the picture.  Oh my heart!

This warmed him up enough to get him to sit with his parents.  After each set we did, Austin would jump up and say "All done now" Ha Ha!

It was great to walk around an area that I had been to many many times, and feel like I was seeing it for the fiirst time because I was experiencing it through Austin's eyes.

Here are a few of my favorites from The Booth's family session :-)

School Pictures with Child Life Childcare Center

Hello and Welcome to my very first blog!

I have chosen to blog about one of my favorite yearly events, and that is the school pictures of some very special little ones.

My friend Jen has been a child care provider/teacher for many many years.  I met her 3+ years ago when I was looking to get my daughter into daycare, but did not want to do the big box type place.  I had looked around for weeks and as a last resort I checked out craigslist.  The very day I searched online is the same day Jen posted her add.  I called 4 different people and then Jen called me back.  Our conversation was so comfortable and light, that I immediately knew this is where I wanted my daughter to go.  We set up a meet and greet and it was etched in stone.  Not only did I love Jen, but Olivia did as well and that is what is truly important.

Jen has become family to me, and is still considered Aunt Jen to my daughter.

Jen knew my passion of taking pictures, and knew I wanted to expand and do it professionally but just wasn'tsure how to do it.  2 years ago Jen launched her own center and had an Open House.  She asked me to come and set up a little stand where kids could come and get a picture ad check out the center.  This was my start into the professional world of photography.

Now not only has my business grown tremendously, but Jen's has as well.  And she has me come in and do School pictures for the kids.

I enjoy this day immensely.  I get to see lots of little friends that I have known since birth, but also meet many new friends.  I love watching all of the kids different personalities.  You have some kids that are complete cheese balls and sit right down and take fabulous pictures.  Then you have some kids that are just not thrilled to be sitting still, let alone getting their picture taken.  Those are the fun ones .. we end up doing all kinds of crazy things to get a smile out of them.  Needless to say, singing is usually the one that brings the best smiles out :-)

Check out some of the pictures we took this year.
